Stop The Escalation

Real honest online activism; getting every member of congress on-record about escalation is an important step in stopping it.

It's also a great use of the interweb; a lot more real and effective than circulating petitions which (pssst, here's a secret) are mainly about listbuilding.

This, on the other hand, actually may matter, so check the link and see if your representatives have gone on the record (mine have) about whether or not they support the Bush/McCain doctrine escalate in Iraq.

The honorable Edolphus Towns has a pretty string statement against it.

Surprisingly Nydia Velasquez my old representative, and our Greenpoint friend's rep hasn't gone on record yet. I've never been a huge follower of House reps., but I disinctley remember her being so pro-workers rights that I would have thought that the two go hand-in-hand.

And of course. Hillary Clinton is as wishy-washy as ever...

‘I am not in favor of doing that unless it’s part of a larger plan,’ Clinton said. ‘I am not in favor of sending more troops to continue what our men and women have been told to do, with the government of Iraq pulling the rug out from under them when they actually go after some of the bad guys.'
